There are many binding agents as well that forms the basis of the Robitussin ingredients. Most binding agents are made up of sugar like fructose and sucralose. Other than these, preserving agents are also being used to preserve the taste and efficiency of the syrup.

Mostly, sodium benzoate is used as the preserving agent. Besides that, Citric acid is also used as a preservative but care should be taken that the acid must be anhydrous otherwise it can react with the solution. The syrup must be something that can be pleasing when it comes to taste. So, Robitussin ingredients must have a flavor that is according to its quality. Certainly, if the syrup would taste bad, then regardless of its efficiency people will switch to any available substitute. Having that in mind this syrup has the flavor of fructose corn which is quite sugary and gives a sweet taste that makes this syrup a complete package.
